FSEA State Convention

Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America
A Fraternal Organization

Carl T. Seibert, State Secretary

 FECON’17 is finally HERE!

Online registration and badge orders are no longer being accepted. You can still register on site at the FSEA registration desk.

Space is filling up quickly for the Wine & Canvas Painting Activity on Saturday at FECON ’17. Check out this beautiful picture you will be painting! This activity is for both men & women and requires NO artistic ability! Trust me, I have none and have done an activity such as this before. You will be amazed at how well you will do! What have you got to lose? Consider giving it a try!

The Marriott is willing to offer a golf package on Wednesday or Sunday for any attendees who might be interested in round or two of golf at their world-class course! If you are interested in an offer please let me know!

You asked and we listened! Many of you who work have expressed your concern over the years on the start time of our General Session on Friday! This year our opening ceremonies won’t take place until 4:45 p.m. Let’s fill the room Friday evening the 26th! Be there as the Exalted Rulers answer our first ever roll call of Lodges! Our Past State President’s and their wives will be escorted in and individually introduced! The ROTC students will present the colors and participate in our salute to the military! Our State President will be elected and his demonstration held, and the evening will end with a solemn memorial tribute to our departed members! It’s an event you won’t want to miss!

Online wrist band sales are no longer being accepted. You must purchase them on site at the convention. Remember everyone in attendance on Saturday will be required to wear a wristband the entire day in order to come and go from the convention hall! This includes Elks, Non-elks, vendors, children, booth volunteers, everyone! Once in the hall you will have access to food and drink at various times throughout the day and there is simply no other way to do this but through a wristband representing your payment of the $20 entry fee! On that Saturday we will be holding two, “must be present to win”, prize drawings! One will be held at 4:25 p.m. and the other one at 10:55 p.m.

Two new Saturday activities have recently been added to our agenda! One is a Wine & Cheese Pairing Event and the other is a Tasting with a Cicerone. Now for those of you, myself included, who wonder what a Cicerone is, well a Cicerone is to beer what a Sommelier is to wine. In other words a Cicerone is a craft beer expert! Come explore the world of wine & cheese or craft beer with a Marriott resident expert. Click the left menu to purchase Wine & Cheese Tasting Event tickets

The Florida Elks Youth Camp staff is gearing up to keep the kiddos entertained in the Kidz Zone Saturday at FECON ’17. Relax in knowing the kids are being taken care of while you enjoy everything the Saturday FECON ’17 has to offer! Order your tickets on the menu at the left.

Someone is leaving FECON ’17 $10k richer! That’s right! It’s the Reverse Draw for the Florida Elks Hope Scholarship Fund. Online ticket sales are no longer being accepted. You may, however, purchase tickets on site at the convention. Tickets are available for a $100 board and a $20 board. For the most up-to-date boards, click the Reverse Drawing icon to the left.

Florida State Elks Orange Shirt  pre-sale orders are no longer being accepted.  Those of you that ordered shirts prior to May 17th  can pick them up in the exhibitor and vendor area at FECON ’17. Our vendor, D. Turin & Company will be onsite taking orders and even doing some limited embroidery. Turin will also have other shirts, other colors and even the traditional orange jackets! These will be our official orange shirts going forward and will be the Florida Orange for the upcoming Grand Lodge Convention in Reno!

Smoking – The Orlando Marriott World Center Resort is a non-smoking facility meaning they do not allow smoking in their guest rooms or anywhere inside the building! Disney was NO DIFFERENT! Like Disney, the World Center DOES allow smoking on its outside balcony’s! Every Hospitality Room has (2) large balcony patios where smokers can convene! In fact, I was told by a smoker that they have never been to a hotel that was as accommodating of smokers than the World Center Marriott! Even on Saturday in the Convention Center the smoking areas are just outside the exhibit halls!

Parking – Parking is FREE for guests of the World Center Marriott. If you are a guest and have a room key, when you exit the self-parking garage you simply enter your room key and the exit arm will lift! It’s that simple! If you are NOT a guest of the World Center and are just driving in for the day, obtain a voucher from the FL Elks Convention Registration Desk, insert it first in the payment kiosk when exiting the garage, and the voucher will halve the parking fee making it $11.75 per exit!

Hospitality RoomsYes we are going to have them! 16 of them in fact! That is only (1) less than last year, unfortunately we lost the NW District at least for this year! Yes, the hospitality rooms will be on different floors of a high-rise hotel but it will not be that hard to visit each and all! As is our custom, all attendees will receive a directory of the hospitality rooms and some rooms will lure you with flyers in the elevators. It is sure to be a grand time! Once in the hospitality rooms you will find them all to be much larger than the rooms we had at Disney and contrary to the rumor mill, the rules for food are no different at the Marriott than they were at Disney! Another plus, since all rooms are inside the hotel, you will be able to traverse the different rooms through airconditioned hallways and without the effects of the weather. Finally, yes! Yes the hospitality room on Saturday is moving to the convention hall floor, but I assure you the food there will exceed any of that served in the hospitality rooms on Thursday or Friday! And finally, a rumor I can confirm…I hear there are going to be some great hospitality room after-parties on Saturday night after things in the convention hall wrap-up! Stay tuned my friends!

Rooms ARE sold-out at the World Center. I hope if you didn’t get one that you will still consider coming to FECON ’17 for the day on Saturday!

Please e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns about FECON ‘17. I look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely and fraternally,

Carl T. Seibert
State Secretary
