Travis Dawson was named Officer of the Year for Perry Elks Lodge #1851. He served several years as Trustee and rarely misses a meeting. He is the computer tech on call, electrician on call, volunteers his time as DJ for lodge functions, does karaoke in the dining room and helps serve events booked in the banquet room.
Perry Exalted Ruler, Tommy Mauldin, participated in the ER introductions at the state convention. He was dressed in fishing attire carrying a mounted fish, a bag of scallops in the shell (Taylor County fronts the Gulf of Mexico) and a pine straw hat since Taylor County is named Pine Tree Capital.
Perry Lodge hosted its scholarship winners, Caleb Wentworth and Kate Whiddon, along with their parents for dinner and scholarship presentations.
