2019 FSEA State Convention

Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America
A Fraternal Organization

    Carl T. Seibert, COO/State Secretary

2019 State Convention Attendees:

I look forward to seeing you this coming weekend at the 113th Annual Convention of the Florida State Elks Association.

Please take the time to read through this entire communication as many of your questions about the Marriott and the Convention will be answered!

Click here to download the Final-Final Agenda (finalized 5/20/19) and the list of Hospitality Rooms!

On our website you will find the following:

  • Information on the FLOE Chinese Auction
  • The Link to the Reverse Draw $100 Ticket Board (sold-out). Tickets for a $20 board will be sold on-site
  • The Resort Map & Driving Directions – Orlando World Center Marriott
  • Information on the Harry-Anna Silent Auction
  • Hospitality Room Promotional Flyers

Here is some other helpful information:

  •  Marriott Check-in Time is 4:00 P.M.
  •  The address for the Orlando World Center Marriott is 8701 World Center Drive, Orlando, Florida, 32821.

  • Pre-registration for name badges is now closed. If you did not pre-register you WILL be able to do it on-site at the convention.

  • All ticket sales are now closed. A few tickets might still be available on-site at the convention at the FSEA table (see Jenny Chatham).

  • Please be advised, neither the Lodges nor the Florida State Elks Association is exempt from paying the 12.5% tax on rooms. Please do not waste the Marriott’s time trying to convince them otherwise at check-in or check-out.

Rooms at the Marriott are in several different towers as follows:

  • Bldg. 1 - South Tower – Lower rise – medium distance from convention center – Rooms 10101 to 11010.

  • Bldg. 2 - East (Main) Tower - Hospitality Rooms are here and this one is closest to convention center – Rooms 20436 to 22876.

  • Bldg. 3 - West Tower – Quieter part of hotel, ground floor quiet pool rooms, furthest from convention center – Rooms 30101 to 30825.

  • Bldg. 4 - North Tower – Where Officer Training is held, accessible to flat uncovered parking lot – Rooms 40401 to 41931.

When you check-in and get your room number, the towers are noted by the first digit of the room number. (i.e. room 20145 would be in the East (Main) Tower – Bldg. 2. The next two digits are the floor number (01 = first floor) followed by the room number (45 = room 45).

  • In-room WiFi at the Marriott is not free. It is free to only Marriott Rewards members.

  • The Elevators at the Marriott can be tricky. Each tower has a set of elevators. The East (Main) Tower has a set of high-floor and low-floor elevators. The low-floor elevators permit access to floors 1-10 only. To get to any floor higher than 10 in the East (Main) Tower you must use the high-floor elevators which access floors 11-28. Please note, if your room is located in either the East, South, West or North Towers on floors 1-10 and you wish to go to a hospitality room on floor 23, you must first take your elevator down to either the lobby level (2nd floor) or the first floor and then transfer to the high-floor elevators to access floors 11 through 23.

Hospitality Rooms will operate on the following schedule:

Thursday Night 5/23 – 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Friday Night 5/24 – 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Saturday Night 5/25 – 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The Marketplace will be hosted in a closer room this year. In fact, all our meeting space will be located in the area to the left just after you exit the escalator!  The marketplace will be open as follows:

Friday 5/24 – 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday 5/25 – 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Free overnight self-parking is available to guests staying at the hotel:

Upon arriving at the Marriott you may drive to the front entrance to drop-off your luggage or drive directly to the self-parking garage.

If you drive to the front entrance to drop off your luggage you should enter the unloading/taxi/UBER lanes. There you may drop-off your luggage with a bellman, obtain your claim ticket for it and then drive to the self-parking garage.

Entering the Parking Garage:

At the entrance gate, take a ticket to open the gate. You will NOT use the ticket to get out of the garage! You will use your room key!

Exiting the Parking Garage:

You will need to use your room key to get out of the garage and receive free parking. If you use the ticket you will be charged!

Getting from the Parking Garage back to the Hotel:

Here you have (2) options. You may walk from the garage to the hotel lobby (about 10 minutes) or you can catch the shuttle that runs continuously (about every 20 minutes) between the parking garage and the front entrance. The Marriott does not see the slow shuttle service as a problem so be forewarned! Once back in the Marriott lobby you may check-in to your room and once in your room you may call the bell desk from your in-room telephone to have your luggage delivered to your room.

Parking for Guests NOT Staying at the Marriott:

Take a ticket to enter the parking garage. You will need to keep your ticket. At the FSEA registration desk obtain as many 50% off vouchers as you will need. A voucher will be needed each time you exit the garage. When you exit the garage you will enter your ticket so it can determine your charge. You then insert the 50% off voucher to reduce the charge by 50% and you then enter your credit card to pay the fee.

If you change rooms while at the Marriott your FREE Parking will NOT automatically transfer:

You must make sure they code your new room key with the free parking

Parking charges will appear on your daily bill:

If you are monitoring it during your stay. The charges are not reversed until you check out!

Read this if you will be presenting a Donation Check at the Saturday Major Projects Luncheon:

If the check is for ARMY OF HOPE – Make the check payable to Florida Elks Charities, Inc. and notate in the memo section – Army of Hope

If the check is for ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION – please don’t bring it. Mail it to the ENF in Chicago. We only do this in February when the GER is here.

If the check is for YOUTH CAMP or THERAPY – Make the check payable to Harry-Anna Investment Fund, Inc. and notate in the memo section – FECTS or FEYC or Camperships

The FSEA Staff will all be wearing Royal Blue Staff Shirts. If you have any questions seek one of them out!

Sincerely and fraternally,

Carl
