Oakland Park Elks Lodge #2407 had a Cinco De Junio celebration dinner June 5 with music while practicing correct social distancing. A total of $211 was raised for the Elks National Foundation.

 

2365 flags

On June 14, Hollywood West Elks Lodge #2365 held its Flag Day ceremony, observing correct social distancing. Following the ceremony, members and guests moved to the yard area to retire tattered flags. Members and guests were invited to take a flag to retire in flames in memory or honor of a loved one. Following the retirement ceremony, lunch was made available to those who desired to remain. Pictured are a guest; Sal Grilli, PER; and Jim Blanchard, PER.

 

In late April, Boca Raton Elks Lodge’s Exalted Ruler, Tito Young, delivered over $500 worth of perishable and nonperishable food donated by the lodge to Boca Helping Hands for distribution to those affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Boca Helping Hands is a local organization that supports the community with items including food, clothing and housewares. 

 

On May 30, Delray Beach Lodge awarded $1,500 scholarships with funds from its charity account to two seniors from Delray Beach’s Atlantic High School via mail since the school did not hold their annual awards presentation due to the pandemic. Sebastian Wojtowicz will be attending the University of Southern California and Chekube Chokwuma will be attending Vanderbilt University.

In April, Delray Beach Lodge donated $4,000 to the Trinity Lutheran Church drive-thru meal program in Delray Beach, Florida, using $2,000 from their Elks National Foundation Gratitude Grant and $2,000 from their charity account. The program provides daily takeout meals to those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
