For the 15th year, Merritt Island Elks Lodge #2650 held a Santa’s Bootstrap program in which the lodge purchases food to last at least a week during the Christmas holiday for families in need. Members are asked to submit names of anyone who could benefit from this service. On Dec. 10, members helped pack groceries into trucks at the store and unload them at the lodge. On Dec. 11, volunteers went to the lodge and divided everything into boxes for 60 families. Then, the packages were delivered to the families.
